Choosing a hostel in Istanbul
Hostels in Istanbul are famous for the chaos that usually reigns within them, with young people from Europe and the Middle East region that seize the opportunity for a very intense cultural exchange.
Many of the Turkish Youth Hostels are often made out of antique buildings where the management of tidiness and cleanliness is always a bit difficult. Anyway, in the city you can find even excellent clean and quiet lodging solutions, and featuring all the amenities of a modern hostel: in addition to dorms with 8-12 beds, there are smaller rooms, some with private bathroom, Wi-Fi Internet connection and the opportunity to enjoy a nice continental breakfast.
Well-equipped hostels are situated in Sultanahmet area, but also in Beyoglu district, with prices still very low: 7-10 Euros for a bed in a dorm, while for a larger room with private bathroom the rate is around 15-20 Euros. Even in the most fashionable district of the city, near Istiklal Caddesi, the heart of Istanbul nightlife, there are many good quality hostels.
